Wilma

She was one tough woman and a coal miner's wife

Gave birth to six children and lived a rough life

And until you've walked a mile in her shoes

You can't even imagine what she's been through

But she always made do the best that she could

And would often work jobs that no one else would

She was a gourmet cook and kept her house clean

She had the coolest pets that you've ever seen

Though she's growing old and her body's in pain

She refuses to quit, grumble or complain

She brings cheer to others by the stories she tells

'Cause laughter helps to make people get well

She often prays to the Lord above

For His protection, strength and love

She's more than a mom; she's a wonderful friend

And I'll always love her to the very end

She's one of a kind and like no other

Wilma, I'm blessed to have you for my mother!

Gary

He's a hard worker

And a hospital guard

Helping others

Is his reward

Working two jobs

To pay the bills

Caring for his mom

When no one else will

My mind goes back

To those wonderful days

When we were young

And would laugh and play

Who knew one day

We'd be miles apart

Yet be so close

In mind and heart

Though few may be

The words we've shared

Only heaven knows

How much we've cared

Blood is thicker

Than water, they say

And the bond we share

Will always stay!

Bill

Who's this famous mountain man

That everyone calls "Bill"

Who raised five kids in the promise land

Of those West Virginia hills

Who hunted, fished and tilled the land

To keep his family fed

Then mined its coal from dawn to dusk

For a roof over their head

Who's this man with calloused hands

And a heart that's made of gold

Who never gave in and never gave up

And never will grow old

But will live forever in the lives he's touched

As a role model and friend

Who would give the shirt right off his back

And lend a helping hand

Who's this proud and mighty man

That humbled himself and prayed

Then bowed down on his knees and begged

The Lord, his soul to save

For it was all because of the grace of God

He now truly believes

And found that a man stands tallest

When he's on his knees

Jean

A coal miner's daughter, a coal miner's wife
And a mother to five kids
She cooked and cleaned, and put lots of love
Into everything she did
She was always faithful to her husband,
And treated him like a king
She even took care of both of her parents
Such joy she would bring
She never forgot anyone's birthday
And made sure cards were sent
To friends and family, both near and far
To give encouragement
Her lovely name means, "God is gracious"
She prays to Him above
She is such a special blessing
This world's not worthy of
A woman among women, one of a kind
And worthy of esteem
Those who've been privileged to know her
Love and call her "Jean"

My 25 Year Anniversary Poem From My Wonderful Husband John:

How do you describe the woman of your dreams
There's so much to say that I don't know where to start
I have lived with an angel for twentyfive years
Her name is Sandy and I love her with all my heart
Her love for God's Word and Will is strong
She puts it into practice for His glory alone
I have always admired her love for the Lord
She's more like Christ than anyone I've ever known
She's stunningly beautiful, both inside and out
She's my “Miss Universe” and I want her to know
Whatever fountain of youth she's found
She gets more lovely as years come and go
Always a lady, discreet and thoughtful
True to her husband and God above
She has always fulfilled my life
I'm so undeserving of such a great love
She puts her family before herself
Her work doesn't stop till the day is done
Making sure her family is clothed, fed, and well
Truly she stepped out of Proverbs Thirtyone
She homeschooled our children and helped them through college
Teaching not for money, but for love so true
And when they graduated and received their degrees
Some of the honor should have gone to her too
Through twentyfive years of ministry she stood by my side
Working endlessly as a caring pastor's wife
She fought the battles with me, sword in hand
I couldn't have made it without her in my life
To describe my Darling would take a book
This little poem cannot begin to reach the depths
Sandy will always be the Queen of my life
I'll love her with all my heart, till my last breath
